Hiking in the Japanese alps

We got outta town and went up into the mountains the other day. (see the video below)
Our amazing AirBnB host Hiroto spontaneously, generously (and Japanese-ly) gave us a ride saving us the 90min bus ride.
The area still has semi-active volcanoes and is full of hot springs. So Hiroto stopped at a little roadside store in one of the ski towns that had eggs boiling outside in (hot) spring water.
He bought us half a dozen, the proprietor brought us some salt, and we ate them standing by the side of the road. Delicious! even if Jess and WM had to tactfully (and successfully) hide their distaste for yolks.

We took a tram up the mountain with a mix of Japanese weekend alpinists and tourists in non-sensible shoes, took in the views, and tramped around as far as our non-crampon'd hiking boots would let us go.
Willa Marie and I made a little video. Enjoy.
