Spa.........that one word is enough to get anyone excited. ANYONE.
However, if you add the word Nun before the word spa everything gets ten times more exciting. As a result of this, when my dad told me that after my homeschooling on Monday morning we were going to go to The Nun Spa I was very excited.
It turns out that this particular Nun Spa ( 'cause there are so many spas that are called the Nun Spa around the globe) is built inside the ruins of an old Roman bath house. So that's cool.
Now, my dad was very smart when we packed for our jubilee so he brought a bathing suit. My mom and I however, were not as mentally enhanced, so we did not bring bathing suits because we were under the impression that we wouldn't need a bathing suit in Italy during the winter, but did we know about the Nun Spa? No! So when we got there my mom and I got bathing suits. She got a one-piece and I got a two-piece because the two-piece was cheaper and, believe me, Nun Spa's are not cheap! I did not know that in Europe bikinis are quite a lot more revealing than they are in America, this was a fact that I was informed of by my mom who was trying to comfort me after I put the suit on. It was all fine though and I got used to it.
Well, I’m sure all of you want to know about the spa itself now. It was amazing. You followed a path they called the Nun Path. It started off with a hot, steamy, moist and suffocating sauna with stone slabs to lie on. I loved it. My dad said that when we came out of that room my hair had frizzed up so much that I looked like a flaming red sheep (he didn't actually describe it like that, it's just my interpretation).
The first room was the dry sauna. The floor burned the bottoms of out feet and there was a short pillar in the middle of the room with burning coals. There two sort of shelves for you to lie on with your towel. You know when in books sometimes the writer describes the character dripping with swear? Thats what this felt like, I was soaked in sweat that dripped off my arms. Please, don't think that that's gross it was one of the most relaxing things I have ever experienced.
Then you go into a room that is coooold. There is a stone basin that is full of ice chips that you rub on your body to cool down. The feeling was insane, to be so hot and then get hit with that kind of painful cold was mind-blowing.
So, once your done freaking you internal thermostat out you can you to the big pool that is in a large cavern, i mentioned that it was in an ancient Roman bath house. The pool had different jets that were spread about in the beautiful pool with its water pouring over the edges of the smooth black stone into a big basin on the ground. The jets were made to massage for different parts of the body. I already said it was relaxing but there is no way to actually describe the way it makes you feel.
Then you could go and have some tea and fruit in the tea room which was very nice. Afterward we took showers in the amazing rain showers that the spa had ( we got to keep the shower lotions! hehehehe).
All in all, it was truly perfect and now we are all wobbly and relaxed while attempting to shop and make dinner so wish us luck!
Love you all!
