Another Family

Sei Shihan (my teacher in Chicago) mentioned a dojo in the city of Florence so we connected ourselves with Jun Shihan Vincent who was the teacher at the Italian dojo.

We took a train to the suburb where we met Jun Shihan Vincent and he took us to the training area. I took a kata class (taught in Italian) with a bunch of large Italian men. We did many different katas as well as some partner sequences. There were also breaks in the class to do many different varieties of push-ups, which were very intense.

It was very interesting because it felt so much like our dojo in Chicago and at the same time so completely different. I was treated with more respect as though I was an adult black belt while I was there. It was like visiting very distant relatives from Italy (though Jun Shihan Vincent is from New York).

I had an amazing time working with them in there dojo and learning the tiny differences that they made in our Seido sequences. A wonderful experience!
